It was fuelled using a highly refined version of kerosene and liquid oxygen was use as the oxidizer.

It was powered by 5 Rocketdyne F1 engines which provided 34,000KNewtons of thrust.

At lift off the astronauts experienced 1.25g but this rose to 4g as fuel was burned off reducing the weight
of the craft and at that point the centre engine was turned off.

The 4 outer engines could be gimbaled to control the stability and direction of flight.
Stage 1 was 10M in diameter, 41M tall and had a dry weight of 131 metric tons.
Fully fuelled it weighted 2,300 metric tons.
